This site was built using methods that form a common and recognized standard for website design as prescribed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an independent body that establishes recommendations known as “Web Standards”.
By designing to these web standards, the content of this web site is made available to a wider range of people, browsers and devices. An added benefit is that they are more search engine friendly as well.
You may have noticed that these web pages download faster, too. Perhaps one day all web sites will be made this way, but until then this site is still quite special. Both the XHTML code and the CSS used to implement this website conform and validate with the common standard identified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). I don’t charge extra for this level of detail and design. It’s just the way I build websites.
This site was designed, to the best of my ability, to be accessible to a wide variety of users. In fact, this site is in compliance with the Rehabilitation Act of the United States Government. This act requires federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities or other limitations that might hinder website accessibility. I thought it would be a great idea to have this website built to meet these standards as well. The following features are incorporated into this website.
- Skip Links
- Re-sizable Text
- Link Focus
- Cross Browser Testing
- Clarity of Content
- Semantic Markup
If you find that there is some part of this website that is not accessible to you, for whatever reason, please contact me and let me know about the problem. I will do my best to make it right.
During development of this website, I tested the code and markup of this website – using a Microsoft Windows operating system – with the browsers listed below and found the site to function and display as intended:
- Mozilla Firefox 220.127.116.11
- Internet Explorer 6.0
- Internet Explorer 7.0
- Opera 9.02
Sometimes it’s a challenge to design websites for non-standard compliant browser like Internet Explorer. For that reason, and many others, I always suggest to my clients that the download and install the Mozilla Firefox browser and use it in place of Internet Explorer. You’ll be amazed at how simple life becomes once you dump IE and begin using Firefox!
This site was designed to work as intended, but I cannot guarantee that it will always do so. Things happen from time-to-time that are either within or outside of our control. If you happen to see something not working the way you think it should, please contact me to let me know and I will do my best to make it right.
